Recording Screen Grabs / Animations as a GIF

Once in a while I need to demonstrate to someone how to accomplish a task, or show someone the steps I am taking to reproduce a problem.  For those times when screen sharing isn’t necessary or available, I use a nice little program called LICEcap.

LICEcap is a program that lets you make animated screen captures and save them as a GIF, like the example below:

LICEcap is available for both Windows and Mac, is lightweight, and is very easy to use.  It also has an option to record in its own proprietary format (.LCF) which supports higher compression than .GIF, and higher quality screen-grabs.

If you’re ever in a situation where you need to make a screen-grab, this it the app to use!
